Java Integrated Industrial and Port Estate (JIIPE), one of Indonesia’s leading Special Economic Zones (SEZ), continues to strengthen its position as a strategic hub for large-scale industrial investment, following the groundbreaking of a US$600 million integrated melamine project by Golden Elephant (GEABH).
The project marks a significant milestone in Indonesia’s industrial downstream strategy, transforming natural gas resources into high-value chemical products, including ammonia, urea, and melamine, within a fully integrated industrial ecosystem.

Advanced Technology and Green Industry Development
The project adopts next-generation process technology that significantly improves operational efficiency and sustainability performance.
With energy consumption reduced by up to 30% compared to global industry benchmarks, and full utilization of by-products through recycling, the facility is designed to support low-carbon industrial development and circular economy principles.
Chairman of Golden Elephant, Lei Lin, highlighted the importance of JIIPE in enabling this development:
“We see JIIPE as a strategic location to develop an integrated chemical industry based on circular economy principles. This project will not only strengthen domestic supply, but also support technology transfer and cross-border industrial collaboration.”
Strong Government Support and Bilateral Cooperation
The project reflects strong alignment between Indonesia’s industrial policy and international investment flows, particularly from China.
Chinese Ambassador to Indonesia, H.E. Wang Lutong, stated:
“This project represents a new milestone in China–Indonesia economic cooperation. It will strengthen the supply of key chemical products, support Indonesia’s industrialization, and contribute positively to regional economic growth.”
